Teacher and Conductor

Gerald Garcia is well-known as a teacher in seminars around the world and has extensive experience as a music workshop leader through his work with Kent Opera and the English National Opera.

With funds from the Highlands and Islands Council, he set up music projects in schools on the Isle of Skye in 1993-94, training teachers in music drama. This is an extension of his work with Composers' Workshop and Kent Opera.

He teaches regularly at the Summer School in Iserlohn, Germany and at Prussia Cove in Cornwall, England.

Gerald has also been musical director of the Baroque Summer School, and has been a regular guest teacher of Academix in Belgium
and GBISS and West Dean in Britain.

He conducts the odd chamber orchestra, and has been musical director of the orchestra of the Oxford Early Music Society.

He is the present Musical Director of the National Youth Guitar Ensemble who regularly give concerts in London and at Summer Schools around the UK performing with other musicians and playing repertoire which has been written for them.

Musicians and Injuries
